Recall net market initiated: broken glass found in pork

Net discounter: Glass fragments up to two centimeters long discovered in meat
A recall campaign for pork was launched in Bavaria. Broken glass of up to two centimeters in length was found in the product “Pork lower shell with rind” from Ulmer Fleisch GmbH. The goods were sold in branches of the discounter Netto. Splinters and fragments can lead to serious injuries in the mouth and throat as well as internal injuries.

Broken glass of up to two centimeters in length
As announced on the "Lebensmittelwarnung.de" portal by the federal states and the Federal Office of Consumer Protection, Ulmer Fleisch GmbH is recalling the article "Pig lower shell with rind" (serving goods, loose) for reasons of preventive consumer protection. According to the information, the product was sold as a so-called service item on Friday, April 8, at various fresh meat counters by Netto Marken-Discount exclusively in parts of Bavaria. As part of a routine inspection, shards of glass up to two centimeters long were found in the fresh meat.

Goods can be returned against a refund of the purchase price
The fragments during processing at Ulmer Fleisch presumably got on the goods through broken glass. The producer and the trading company reacted immediately and immediately took the goods out of sale. It was communicated that the counter was only open counter and packaged self-service products and other loose fresh meat products were not affected by the recall. Customers can return the affected product to their shops without reimbursement of the purchase price.

Under no circumstances consume affected products
It is not the first recall that the discounter had to start because of problems with suppliers. Just a few months ago, Netto recalled the popular Napoli sauce from the "Mondo Italiano" brand because it could not be ruled out that there were glass particles in it. Foods that may contain broken glass or broken glass should no longer be consumed as a precaution. These can lead to serious injuries in the mouth and throat or to internal injuries. In food production, errors in the manufacturing processes can lead to contamination or foreign bodies such as glass, aluminum or plastic residues. (ad)
